KIYOSU, Japan—Toyoda Gosei has opened its Brazilian subsidiary GDBR Industria e Comercio de Componentes Quimicos e de Borracha Ltda. at the company's premises in Sao Paulo.
The firm said in an April 14 news release that the facility will produce automotive sealing parts like door weatherstrips; interior and exterior parts like instrument panel components; and safety systems like airbags.
The unit is located on a 2.37 million-sq.-ft. plot of land, with the building spanning about 194,000 square feet. Toyoda Gosei said as of March the unit employs nearly 260.
“We look forward to growing in Brazil, especially Itapetininga, with increasing localisation to serve the needs of the Brazilian automotive market with its long-term growth potential,” Toyoda Gosei Chairman Tadashi Arashima said at the opening ceremony.
In addition to GDBR, Toyoda Gosei invested capital in Pecval Industria Ltda., also in Sao Paulo, a producer of plastic automotive parts, in November 2015.
These two business units will work together in supplying products to carmakers in South America.
GDBR sits on about 2.37 million square feet of land, with the building spanning about 193,750 square feet. The firm said the facility employs about 260 people as of March.
Headquartered in Kiysou, Toyoda Gosei produces rubber and plastic automotive parts with 100 plants and offices in 18 countries.
