LOGAN, Utah—Goodyear's Norbert Majerus has been named recipient of the Shingo Research and Professional Publication Award for his book, “Lean-Driven Innovation: Powering Product Development at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.”
The Shingo Institute, part of the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University, will present the award at the 28th International Shingo Conference, which will be held April 25-29 in Washington.
“Receipt of the Shingo Research and Professional Publication Award signifies an author's significant contribution to advancing the body of knowledge regarding enterprise excellence,” said Ken Snyder, executive director of the Shingo Institute.
Majerus is Goodyear's lean champion in research and development. His book dealt with Goodyear's and his journey, beginning in 2005, to apply lean principles in an R&D setting and how lean principle transformed the product development operation.
“It is rare, indeed, for someone with so much real world experience improving one company's systems of product development to divulge such a public gift as this book delivers, observed Jeff Rogers, engineering manager of lean product development at Parker Hannifin Corp., Parker Aerospace.
