BRUSSELS—The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers' Association has launched a new European initiative in the area of tire label market surveillance.

The MSTyr15 campaign will last until the start of 2018 and involves market surveillance authorities of 13 European Union member states and Turkey. It will involve s liaison with all EU 28 market surveillance authorities through the TyresADCO.

The project is being led by Prosafe, a group that has been assigned by the European Commission to coordinate and manage the joint market surveillance activities.

“ETRMA believes that this action is key to establish a level playing field in Europe and for the benefit of the consumers as it combines compliance controls on both safety and energy labeling requirements,” said Fazilet Cinaralp, secretary general of the ETRMA, in a news release.
