Michelin adds two sizes to Uniroyal commercial tire line

GREENVILLE, S.C.—Michelin North America Inc.'s Uniroyal brand has added two sizes for its recently launched Uniroyal commercial truck tires.

The Uniroyal RS20—a SmartWay-verified regional all-position tire—is available in a 255/70R22.5 size for regional pick-up and delivery vehicles and trailers, the company said. The Uniroyal HS50 is now available in a 425/65R22.5 size for on-/off- road dump trucks and concrete mixers.

Darlene Shepherd, business segment manager for Michelin's Uniroyal Commercial Truck Tires unit, said in a statement, “Uniroyal is expanding its line of commercial truck tires to meet the needs of two important customer segments: regional pick-up and delivery and construction. These additions bring affordable and dependable solutions for the small fleets and owner-operators we serve.”

The two new sizes add to the Uniroyal tire portfolio, launched in January, that consists of six tread designs with 28 sizes. The Uniroyal line provides, according to Michelin, “an affordable offer for every commercial truck tire position and application from long-haul to regional to on-/off- road, including dry van, flat bed, construction, and pick-up and delivery vocations.”

The tire maker said it uses DuraShield construction in each Uniroyal tire, providing for “durability, dependability and retreadability.

“Three strategic features—pyramidal steel belts, insulating belt edge strips and a heavy gauge inner liner—work together to reduce stress, promote endurance and protect the tire's casing,” the company said.

The company backs its Uniroyal commercial truck tires with a four-year manufacturer's limited warranty, and certain tires used in long-haul and regional applications also are covered by a one-retread limited warranty.
