BOWIE, Md.—The Tire Industry Association has chosen Oct. 18-21 as the dates for the Chicago leg of its Certified Automotive Training Service Instructor class tour for 2016.
Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Ill., will be the site for the four-day class, , the association said.
The session will feature classroom and hand-on training that industry professionals must successfully complete in order to return to their workplaces and train technicians there for ATS certification, according to TIA.
ATS training covers safety guidelines and step-by-step procedures for all aspects of passenger and light truck tire service, the association said. These include wheel installation with the proper torque and tire repair, as well as a full day of instruction on tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS).
To date, more than 100,000 technicians have been certified through TIA's “train-the-trainer” approach since 1997, the Bowie-based association said.
