ST. LOUIS—Wedge Roofing, a contractor for Accella Performance Materials' Premium Spray Products operation, has garnered two prestigious industry awards.
It received the 2016 National Roofing Contractors Association Gold Cycle Award for innovation solutions in re-roofing and the SPFA Industry Excellence Award for best spray foam in the nation for 2016.
The award winning-roofing project was located at a manufacturing facility in Sonoma County, Calif., where more than 70 percent of the roof area was not accessible by traditional methods.
In addition, the production operation of the plant required a guaranteed uninterrupted installation to the 24-hour-a-day, five-days-a-week manufacturing schedule.
To complete a significant portion of the roof, Wedge developed a method to pre-apply spray foam to a rigid substrate, slide the substrate beneath roof obstructions and integrate components into the surrounding roof area, Accella said.
The entire roof system received a roof application of Premicote P64, a plasticizer migration resistant primer, followed by one and a half inches of Primiseal 280 spray polyurethane foam. The process was completed with an application of Premicote 2100 high solid silicone protective coating.
Premicote P64, Primiseal 280 and Premicote 2100 are part of the Premium Spray Products line.
“This extremely difficult and very technical job was made possible only through the use of spray foam and coatings from Premium Spray Products,” Gary Harvey, general manager of Wedge, said in a statement.
