STOCKHOLM, Sweden—Trelleborg Industrial Solutions has acquired Loggers Rubbertechniek B.V. in a transaction aimed at expanding its market position in the marine anti-vibration products market.
Loggers designs and develops products that minimize noise and dampen vibrations and shocks, mainly for onboard ship systems.
It does not manufacture goods, according to a Trelleborg spokeswoman, but it does make small assemblies in-house.
By joining Trelleborg, the acquired company gains the production expertise to help it flourish, she indicated.
“The combination of our manufacturing capabilities with the skills and expertise of Loggers will lead to a shorter time to market of innovative solutions for a very demanding customer base,” the spokeswoman said. “This will be further accelerated by our established international sales and distribution network.”
Trelleborg Industrial Solutions is one of five businesses within Trelleborg A.B.
Based in a facility in Dordrecht, Netherlands, Loggers also operates a sales office in Germany. The company recorded revenues of about $121 million in 2015.
Financial details of the transaction, which closed March 8, were not disclosed.
Loggers employs about 30, and its management team and work force are expected to remain with Trelleborg, the spokeswoman said.
The bolt-on acquisition is part of Trelleborg's strategy to strengthen its positions in attractive market segments across the globe, according to Trelleborg.
“Loggers is a niche company with recognized skilled engineers at the forefront of the design and development of anti-vibration solutions,” said Mikael Fryklund, business area president for Trelleborg Industrial Solutions.
“I am delighted to welcome the acquired operation into Trelleborg,” he said.
He said the company has advanced digital service tools, making it easier for customers to do business with the firm.
Trelleborg's plan, Fryklund said, is for the Loggers operation “to become a marine anti-vibration solutions center with a focus on marine systems for our global industrial anti-vibration operation.”
Loggers has introduced numerous innovative marine products within the shipbuilding, offshore and dredging sector, the spokeswoman said.
In addition, the firm operates in the rail and machinery sectors, she said.
That closely mirrors Trelleborg's own market specialties within the industrial anti-vibration sector, she added.
