ST. LOUIS—Polyurethane and recycled rubber product producer Accella Performance Materials Inc. has renamed seven key businesses in order to reflect the firm's polyurethane size, scale and speed capabilities.
Arnco Performance Polymers, Burtin Polymer Laboratories, IPS Polymer Systems, MarChem and Premium Spray Products now are called Accella Polyurethane Systems. Its ArncoPathway and Zeus Tire Fill businesses have been named Accella Tire Fill Systems.
Both changes were effective Jan. 1.
Accella Polyurethane Systems was selected as the name for the five urethane businesses because it ties in with “Accella's strategy to build the leading polyurethane systems house,” according to Andy Harris, president and CEO of Accella Performance Materials.
“In combining national manufacturing locations with a national sales network, we provide the speed and scale to enhance our customers' performance and profitability,” he said.
Chris Brink, vice president of Accella Polyurethane Systems, said the companies will continue “to provide the high quality, best in class technology and brands now with even greater focus and energy.”
Accella's polyurethane business focuses on foams, coatings, adhesives, tire fill sealants and elastomers.
In terms of Accella Tire Fill Systems, the new name reflects “the global presence and competency of former ArncoPathway and Zeus tire fill products,” said Joe Negrey, vice president of the tire fill operation.
The operation serves three continents with local manufacturing, he said. “We are the leading provider of tire productivity solutions in the world.”
Names previously used by the seven companies will be subjugated to brands, according to Al Restaino, Accella's vice president of marketing.
He said the businesses will not be merged and will continue to operate as they do presently. Employees and plants will not be impacted negatively by the changes, he said.
Restaino said the companies' “synergies in raw materials and technology continue to evolve and provide positive impact to our customers.”
Combining the seven companies under the polyurethane systems and tire fill systems umbrellas gives Accella three large business units. The third is the company's rubber operation, which produces recycled tire crumb, custom colored EPDM granules, equine matting, athletic flooring, playground surfacing and custom molded products from recycled rubber.
Accella has expanded regularly over the last few years and built a sizable operation in the process.
Its last acquisitions were in September when it finalized the purchases of three companies in a two-day span.
Accella bought spray foam and specialized urethane systems maker Premium Spray Products on Sept. 9 and a day later finished the deal to buy Burtin Polymer Laboratories, a producer of spray foams and coatings used in insulation and roofing, and Coating and Foam Solutions, a distribution business focused primarily on commercial roofing for Burtin.
