AKRON—The ACS Rubber Division has unveiled its Elastomer Training Center, which will serve as a centralized location for the organization's courses for students, industry professionals and educators.
The 32-seat center, which opened Feb. 1, is located is located in Suite 208 of the same building as the division's headquarters, 411 Wolf Ledges Parkway in Akron.
The Rubber Division said it created the center to augment the organization's current educational program of online and onsite courses by adding new topics, materials and instructors. The center houses state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, has its own kitchen and provides electric hookups for attendees at each table.
According to the Rubber Division, the facility increases the efficiency and management of future educational courses, as well as benefits attendees because of its proximity to the organization's staff and resources. Located near the University of Akron campus, the center provides space for local rubber companies to host organization meetings and in-house training.
Officials at the Rubber Division said the training center allows for the organization to develop a training program for high school science teachers to receive professional development hours and learn about elastomer/rubber and related technology, as well as educate high school students about rubber and other elastomers.
