WASHINGTON—The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries has opened the entry period for its 2016 Transportation Safety Awards, ISRI announced.
The program, now in its fourth year, includes four awards honoring ISRI members with outstanding transportation safety records. All awards will be presented at ISRI2016, the association's annual convention and exposition, which will be held in Las Vegas April 2-7.
The awards are:
• The Best Fleet Awards, honoring ISRI members in four different size classes which have both the lowest vehicle accident rates and the lowest Department of Transportation accident severity rates;
• The Pacesetter Awards, honoring ISRI members in four size classes which have the best 36 month accident records;
• The Driver of the Year Award, honoring the commercial vehicle driver with the best 20-year record, with the minimum qualification being no at-fault accidents during his or her career. The winner will receive a trophy, a leather jacket, $500 and an all-expenses-paid trip to ISRI2016; and
• The ISRI Golden Wrench Award, honoring the heavy vehicle maintenance technician or manager who has made outstanding contributions to vehicle safety. The winner gets a trophy and a trip to ISRI2016.
