Editor's Note: Each week, Rubber & Plastics News will take a look at some of the rubber industry's new products and innovations on www.rubbernews.com. Does your company have a new product or new innovation? To be considered for inclusion in this recurring feature, email [email protected]

PriPro Polymers Inc. has launched X-Linked TPUs (crosslinked thermo plastic polyurethanes) and TPEs (crosslinked thermo plastic elastomers), which is a recently patented family of X-Link TPUs that the company said is highly resistant to abrasion, chemicals and heat and lasts longer than standard polyurethanes and elastomers.

X-Link TPUs and TPEs can be customized for various industrial and consumer products, PriPro said, with current applications including: agricultural heavy equipment, specialty vehicles (omni-directional wheels), oil and gas industry specialty parts (Sucker rod guides and Pump Jack u-cups) and mining screens.

Additionally, the action sport market skateboarding segment has been receptive to products produced from X-Link urethanes. PriPro reported it has developed four X-Link urethanes for skateboarding: a 100A durometer for street wheels, a harder 84B for pro skater wheels, a 92A for bowl or pool skating and 80A for soft cruiser wheels.

PriPro markets these wheels under its Kontrol Wheels division to many private label brands, and the firm said these brands are gaining market share with amateur and professional skaters in the U.S., Australia, Canada and in parts of Europe.

Sonderhoff Chemicals' two-component Fermapor K31 polyurethane foam sealing seals off control cabinet body and doors.

Sonderhoff Chemicals GmbH has released a two-component Fermapor K31 polyurethane foam sealing that seals off control cabinet body and doors so that dirt, dust and moisture are unable to penetrate the interior and damage electronics.

The faults that such effects can cause could result in production downtimes that invariably are associated with high costs, the firm said.

Sonderhoff Chemicals offers a range of characteristics according to the specific type of material selected: short assembly and tack-free times thanks to very fast reacting Fast-Cure foams; high flame protection compliant with fire safety standard UL 94 HF-1, suitable for indoor or outdoor use; excellent elastic recovery properties of the foam seals following compression; and excellent sealing properties based on testing classifications defined by NEMA for North America or the IP classes (ingress protection) in Europe.

Sonderhoff said these sealing properties increase the protection of electrical and electronic components in control cabinets against dust, rain, splash and stream water, as well as fire.

The company's fast reacting foam seals for the sealing of control cabinets and electronics housings allowing for short curing times, Sonderhoff said, and can be adapted to the customer's production speed and application process cycle. With the ultra-fast, two-component Fast-Cure Fermapor K31-A-4530-2-B-FC polyurethane foam seal for indoor control cabinets, the sealing surface is tack-free after just 3.5 minutes and the assembly time can be reduced by more than half from its previous approximately 60 minutes to around 25 minutes, the company claimed.

Larson Electronics' portable explosion proof LED work light with a magnetic base

Larson Electronics L.L.C. has introduced a portable explosion proof LED work light with a magnetic base.

Larson said the EPL-MPM-150LED-100 explosion proof LED light is Class 1 Division 1 and 2 and Class 2 Division 1 and 2 rated and is capable of illuminating up to 10,000 square feet of work space.

Additionally, this LED work light produces a brilliant flood pattern of light ideal for illuminating enclosed areas and hazardous locations where flammable vapors, gases and dusts may be presentm Larson said.

The LED lamp produces 13,000 lumens of light with a color temperature of 6000K,the company reported, and a color rendering index of 70, which produces colors and details much more accurately than high pressure sodium or mercury vapor lamps.

The EPL-MPM-150LED-100 is made of a 16-inch wide by 14-inch tall rectangle light head mounted within a pedestal base stand with a convenient carrying handle built into the top of the stand. The A-frame portable stand is constructed from non-sparking aluminum, Larson said, and powder coated for increased durability and corrosion resistance. The lamp can be easily adjusted up or down 90 degrees and also can be locked into position.
