WASHINGTON—Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is voluntarily recalling 153 Cooper Zeon LTZ Extra Load tubeless tires, size 275/55R20 XL, for possible tread cracking or tread lug chunking.
The tires were manufactured between Sept. 1-14, 2015, Cooper told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Tread cracking and tread lug chunking can cause loss of air pressure and tire failure, Cooper said.
Cooper will begin notifying tire owners in January, and will replace the tires free of charge. Owners may contact Cooper's customer service line at 800-854-6288; the company's number for this recall is 161.
Owners may also contact NHTSA's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website.
