WASHINGTON—Registration is underway for the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc.'s 2016 annual convention and exposition.
ISRI2016, billed as the world's largest annual gathering of scrap recycling professionals, will be held April 2-7 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The event “is set to provide scrap recyclers from around the world with the educational and networking opportunities, product showcases and industry news needed to maximize their time, dollars and return on investment,” according to ISRI.
“The ISRI show has become the most important meeting in the industry each year, with participants typically coming from all 50 U.S. states and from more than 50 countries across the globe,” said Chuck Carr, vice president of member services for ISRI. “The show's value comes from how well it is programmed to meet the present needs of the industry.
“With a level of uncertainty in the market unseen in years, recyclers need to glean every piece of information they can to remain competitive and ISRI2016 will provide that much needed information.”
Convention workshops will focus on the aspects of business needed to know “to keep the doors open in challenging times,” ISRI said, including:
• Using the Tax Code to Your Advantage in a Down Market;
• How To Work With Your Banker In Tough Economic Times;
• The Current State of DRI in the U.S. Ferrous Market;
• The Increased Use of Aluminum in the Automotive Industry; and
• How to Make Money in Plastics Recycling.
ISRI2016 also will feature the institute's popular Spotlight series — highlighting tires, ferrous, copper, aluminum, nickel/stainless and paper — that ISRI said provides the most up-to-date market analysis available anywhere.
ISRI claims its exhibition hall will feature the most comprehensive trade show floor of any recycling themed convention anywhere, with many exhibitors featuring software and equipment designed to lower operating costs and improve productivity.
The Washington-based institute holds blocks at five major hotels in Las Vegas for the event but is encouraging early booking. More details, including hotels and registration information can be found on the ISRI2016 website.
ISRI, which calls itself is the “Voice of the Recycling Industry,” represents more than 1,600 companies in 21 chapters nationwide that process, broker and industrially consume scrap commodities, including metals, paper, plastics, glass, rubber, electronics and textiles. It provides safety, education, advocacy and compliance training and promotes public awareness of the vital role recycling plays in the U.S. economy, global trade, the environment and sustainable development.
