COLUMBIA, Tenn.—Global Manufacturing Services Inc., a tire mold manufacturing facility, will be investing $620,000 in equipment upgrades at its Columbia plant.
The company said the move will create 43 jobs.
“Tire manufacturers require high quality products and services, delivered as quickly as possible,” Mike Carson, president of Global Manufacturing Services, said in a statement. “The continued investment in exceptional people and equipment will allow us to exceed the needs of existing and future customers.”
GMS specializes in engineering, designing, manufacturing and repairing tire molds at its Columbia facility, which serves most of the North American tire market. The company has purchased equipment, including cranes, and will modify the building to accommodate the equipment.
“Tennessee has the largest concentration of automotive industry employment in the South, and employment in this sector has grown 10 times faster than overall jobs in the state,” Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd said in a statement. “
