TRELLEBORG, Sweden—Trelleborg Offshore & Construction, a business unit of Trelleborg A.B., has signed an agreement to acquire Marimatech A.S., a company that specializes in marine positioning and piloting systems.

According to a news release, Marimatech primarily develops software used for docking or mooring ships offshore or in ports. Terms of the deal were not released.

The acquisition will broaden and supplement Trelleborg's product portfolio within berthing, docking and mooring solutions for ports and vessels, the Swedish company said.

The acquired company's head office and production site are based in Aarhus, Denmark. The company's sales totaled approximately $5.9 million in 2014.

“The acquired company has a successful navigation and ship positioning product line using the latest ‘smart' technology, which can be used on other marine applications and integrated with our existing range of products,” Fredrik Meuller, president of the Trelleborg Offshore & Construction business area, said in a statement.

The purchase, according to Meuller, will enable Trelleborg to strengthen its offering as a turnkey supplier of marine docking and mooring systems for owners and managers of ports and vessels.

The transaction is expected to be finalized by the end of the year.

Trelleborg Offshore & Construction develops polymer-based solutions for deep-sea exploration and extraction of oil and gas, and provides sealing and vibration-damping solutions for tunnels, bridges and other large construction and civil engineering projects, as well as marine structures for mooring, docking and anchoring at ports and on vessels.
