BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Motion Industries Inc. has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Moss Rubber and Equipment Corp.

According to a Motion Industries statement released Dec. 1, execution of the transaction is expected to take place immediately.

“We are excited about gaining Moss' technical expertise in the hose and rubber category, which will help broaden Motion Industries' services even more in this area,” Tim Breen, president and CEO of Motion Industries, said in a statement. “We want to welcome all Moss employees to the Motion family, and we look forward to the contributions they will make to our company in the years to come.”

Moss Rubber has been a supplier of quality industrial rubber products since 1965, Motion Industries said. The firm specializes in hose and rubber products for the petroleum, construction, mining, manufacturing, transportation and agricultural industries throughout Northern California.

Moss services customers from locations in South San Francisco and Benicia, Calif.

“We are very excited to become part of Motion Industries and to be able to leverage the added strength that the company provides,” Moss Rubber President Greg Moss said in a statement. “It will be a good fit with our customer relationships, which for both companies are built on a platform of trust, performance and satisfaction.

Motion Industries reported annual sales of $4.8 billion and is a industrial parts distributor of bearings, mechanical power transmission, electrical and industrial automation, hydraulic and industrial hose, hydraulic and pneumatic components, industrial products, safety products, and material handling products.

The firm said it has more than 550 operations, including 15 distribution centers throughout North America, and serves more than 150,000 customers from the food and beverage, pulp and paper, iron and steel, chemical, mining and aggregate, petrochemical, automotive, wood and lumber, and pharmaceutical industries.

Motion Industries is a wholly owned subsidiary of Genuine Parts Co.
