AKRON—The board of directors of Akron-based Myers Industries Inc. has elected a new president and CEO, effective Monday, Dec. 7.
The polymer product manufacturer in a news release said the board elected R. David Banyard to succeed its current leader, John C. Orr. Banyard also will be elected to the board, effective Jan. 1.
Orr was named the vice chairman, a role he'll retain until his retirement from the company and board on Dec. 31. He'll work with Banyard on the transition.
Orr has been the CEO at Myers since 2005 and announced his retirement in July.
Banyard is a graduate of Princeton University and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, the release said. He served as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy before joining Danaher Corp. He held leadership roles there and at Roper Technologies.
Banyard has both the “leadership characteristics and the industry experience” Myers was looking for, board chairman Robert “Yank” Heisler said in the release.
