Team BMR driver Colin Turkington celebrates a victory during the 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season. He finished fourth in the championship.

BIRMINGHAM, England—The organizer of the British Touring Car Championship has renewed its racing tire supply and title sponsorship with Goodyear Dunlop Tyres UK Ltd. through the 2021 season.

Separately, Goodyear Dunlop signed a race tire supply deal with the organizers of the Mini Challenge, single-make championship in the United Kingdom for Minis since 2002, replacing Pirelli as the tire supplier.

The BTCC contract will extend into a third decade for both the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship title sponsorship, which began in 2005, and the tire supplier partnership, which began in 2003, the parties said.

Financial terms of the deal between ToCA Ltd.—promoters and rights holder of the MSA British Touring Car Championship—and Goodyear Dunlop were not disclosed.

The BTCC is the top touring car race series in the United Kingdom and one of the leading series in Europe. Last season it staged 10 three-race weekends at nine circuits throughout the U.K. with an average of 30 cars at each weekend.

BTCC Series Director Alan Gow called the decade-old relationships with Goodyear-Dunlop “one of the closest and most enduring of any major motorsport program” and said carrying the Dunlop name in the series' title “is something of great pride to our championship.”

Hans Vrijsen, managing director, Goodyear Dunlop Tyres U.K. and Ireland, added: “Dunlop is also synonymous with top level motorsport, having won the Le Mans 24 hour more than any other tire company.

“The BTCC gives Dunlop an opportunity to demonstrate its performance credentials in front of hundreds of thousands of passionate BTCC fans every year. We are delighted to be continuing this strong partnership.”

In addition, Goodyear Dunlop's HiQ nationwide fast fit network has agreed to continue its sponsorship of the MSA British Touring Car Teams Championship next year.

    Dunlop Mini Challenge

The Mini Challenge contract returns Dunlop to the tire supplier's role after a five-year hiatus and includes a comprehensive changeover package for competitors entering the 2016 championship, full event support, joint marketing activity and a BTCC test for the winner of the 2016 challenge championship.

    Financial details were not disclosed.

“We look forward to maximizing the potential of this partnership in the years to come,” said Championship promoter Antony Williams.

“The change back to Dunlop reinforces the path from Mini Challenge to BTCC, which in recent years has become more pronounced with a number of BTCC teams entering the Mini Challenge. The addition of a BTCC test for our 2016 Champion is the icing on the cake.”

Dunlop UK Motorsport Manager Michael Butler called the Mini Challenge a “prestigious, professionally run, premium championship at some of the U.K.'s best circuits. We have developed a new tire to suit powerful front-wheel-drive cars, inspired by our successful Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship control tire.”

Butler noted that the current Mini street cars are fitted with original equipment from Dunlop tires, including the latest RunOnFlat tires, extending a Dunlop-Mini partnership that began in 1959.
