COLOMBES, France—Arkema S.A. reported a 32 percent increase in sales and a 36 percent increase in net income for the third quarter of 2015, sparked by its acquisition of Bostik S.A.
The firm said that its new Bostik unit, acquired in the end of 2014, accounted for about 28 percent of the sales increase. Even excluding Bostik's contribution, Arkema said its Industrial Specialties segment drove a significant improvement in sales.
Sales came in at about $2.09 billion, with net income reported at about $101.9 million.
Bostik, an international adhesives provider, contributed about $440.6 million in the sales of its High Performance Materials segment—causing the segment's sales reach $928.4 million for the quarter.
The segment reported sales of about $490 million in third quarter of 2014. Excluding the contribution from Bostik, sales decreased slightly to $487.8 million. Arkema reported a 1.9 percent decrease in volumes because of weaker demand in some applications in the oil and gas market.
Arkema employs about 19,000 in nearly 50 countries, operating research centers in North America, France and Asia. It reported 2014 sales of about $6.57 billion.
