MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala.—Firestone Building Products Co. L.L.C.'s facility in Muscle Shoals hasn't had a lost-time accident in 1 million man hours, spanning more than nine years.
The plant, which makes thermoplastic polyolefin single-ply roofing membranes, will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2016. The firm said the facility has been recognized with five internal safety awards since its opening.
Firestone has established a safety and health program that includes training, evaluation of basic systems, internal audits and continuous improvement with daily, monthly and quarterly meetings focused on safety.
“Safety is ingrained in our operations and reflects the commitment of all teammates, from leadership to the plant floor,” Plant Manager Coy Johnson said in a news release. “This accomplishment reflects the hard work of many, and I am pleased that our plant is joining the ranks of Firestone Building Products facilities that have achieved this significant milestone.”
Headquartered in Indianapolis, Firestone building Products is a manufacturer and supplier of commercial building performance solutions, taking the entire building envelope into consideration by meeting customer and project needs for roofing, wall, landscape and lining.
