COLOGNE, Germany—Lanxess A.G. has promoted Hubert Fink to the board of management as the head of the firm's Advanced Intermediates segments, effective Oct. 1.
Fink currently leads the Advanced Industrial Intermediates business unit within the segment, which also includes Lanxess' Saltigo. In his new role, Fink will also hold responsibility for the High Performance Materials business unit of the Performance Polymers segment.
“Hubert Fink is an excellent authority on our products, production processes and markets,” CEO Matthias Zachert said in a news release. “He was with Lanxess from the very beginning and knows our company inside and out. This will help us make even swifter progress with Lanxess' realignment.”
Fink joined Bayer A.G. in 1988, eventually becoming the head of global operations for semi-crystalline products in the Bay Polymers subgroup in 2002. He transitioned with Bayer's chemicals business when it was spun off in 2004 as the head of Lanxess' Semi-Crystalline business unit and has headed the Advanced Industrial Intermediates unit since 2011.
Lanxess is a specialty chemicals manufacturer that employs about 16,300 in 29 countries with 52 production sites worldwide. It reported 2014 sales of about $9.6 billion.
