ALAVA, Spain—Repsol S.A.'s General Quimica unit has been recognized by Michelin with the Michelin Supplier Award in the Raw Materials & Energy Procurement category for quality and outstanding operational performance, Repsol said in a Sept. 18 news release.
Based in Alava, General Quimica is a rubber chemicals manufacturer with 90 percent of its sales coming from the tire industry, according to the release. The firm has had a partnership with Michelin for more than 30 years.
The award was presented to the firm by Michelin CEO Jean-Dominique Senard in Clermont-Ferrand, France.
The Michelin Supplier Awards were initiated in 2010 and according to Repsol's release distinguish suppliers from all over the world that stand out regarding their commitment with Michelin and who share the vision to drive greater common competitiveness and innovation for the future.
Repsol is a global energy groups and, according to its release, one of the top private oil companies in the world. In its integrated chemical activity, the firm manufactures and markets a variety of products from base petrochemicals to derivatives in more than 95 countries.
