AKRON—Goodyear has appointed Chris Delaney as president-elect of its Asia-Pacific business unit.
Smytka will join the firm in August and assume full responsibility for the business on Jan. 1, 2016.
Daniel L. Smytka, president of Asia-Pacific since 2011, will work closely with Delaney on the transition before moving to another leadership role reporting to Chairman and CEO Richard J. Kramer, Goodyear said in an Aug. 21 news release.
Delaney brings 30 years of global leadership experience in Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe and the Middle East, the firm said. For the past for years he was the CEO of Goodman Fielder Ltd., a large public food company in Australia and New Zealand.
Delaney spent 20 years in positions of increasing responsibility at Procter & Gamble Co., working in sales and business development in both North America and Europe before becoming vice president and general manager, first in the Middle East then in North America.
Kramer said in a statement that Delaney is a proven leader and joins the firm at a critical time as it drives for growth amid challenging economic conditions in the region.
