KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia—The Malaysian Rubber Board has appointed Mohd Akbar bin Md Said as the director general of the board.
Akbar served as the deputy director general for research and innovation at the board since 2006. He was responsible for the direction, planning and strategies of research and innovation at the MRB and worked closely with the ministry of plantation industries and commodities, the Malaysian rubber industry and other agencies.
Akbar's expertise in research and development is related to latex harvesting technologies. They include such areas as latex stimulant (chemical and bio-based latex stimulant, and gaseous stimulant), low intensity tapping systems, as well as the promotion and expansion of such technologies to local agencies.
