Members of the Bluestar Silicones team pose at their DKT/IRC booth earlier this year.

NUREMBERG, Germany—Bluestar Silicones International presented a range of silicone products, including the Bluesil FRC8470, at Deutsche Kautschuk-Tagung 2015 and International Rubber Conference 2015, which was held June 29- July 2 in Nuremberg.

Bluestar previously exhibited at the IRC/DKT in 2012, according to Mehdi Abbadi, global business manager of Bluestar Silicones. The company decided to return to the conference this year to confirm the company's ambitions as a silicone supplier to the elastomers and rubber industry, he said, and to promote its new generation HCR grade for safety cables, the FRC8470.

The FRC8470 officially launched during Plast 2015 in Milan, May 5-9. The product is designed with fire and safety improvement in mind, especially in the cable market.

Cable fire resistance is empowered by Bluestar's new generation of high consistency rubber products for safety cables. Bluestar Silicones launched the Bluesil FRC 8470, which the company said is ideal for insulation and fire resistance complying with main functional circuit integrity standards. Bluestar Silicones mix and fix centers are tailor-made solutions that meet customer needs, Bluestar claimed.

Feedback has been very good, Abbadi said, and in addition to sample requests, “we already have industrial orders placed for this new product since Plast 2015 and IRC.”

Bluestar Silicones produces various silicone elastomers that can be used in many different applications, the firm said, with a spreading capability coupled with resistance to extreme temperatures, UV and IR radiation, as well as other external agents.

“Silicone elastomers are key for Bluestar Silicones, and we will continue to invest for masterbatch as well as ready-to-use materials in our different locations around the world. We aim at providing to all rubber industries a full range of products and technologies bringing the right solution for any current or future requirements,” Abbadi said in a news release.

The company recently said it was investing more than $16 million to develop and modernize its elastomer product units, specifically at its location in Saint Fons, France. Overall, Abbadi said the investment will target Europe, North America and Latin America.
