MEXICO CITY—The Camara Nacional de la Industria Hulera has elected Tom Gravalos, CEO and managing director of Pirelli Neumaticos S.A., to be its president for the coming year.
The CNIH—the National Chamber of Rubber Industry—represents the interests of the Mexican rubber industry.
As part of his duties, Gravalos represents the sector with government authorities and various industrial organizations. The group's board comprises a dozen representatives from member companies.
“For me it is an honor to accept this appointment and vote of confidence to defend and represent the overall interests of the sector,” Gravalos said. “It's a great challenge, and I am commited to work on behalf of the industry as a key to generate positive results and benefits at a time when the automotive sector is experiencing large investments.”
Francisco Martha, director of the CNIH, said: “This appointment allows the chamber and its members to have an executive very well prepared to represent the interests of the rubber sector in the country.”
A native of Guadalajara, Mexico, with more than 40 years' tire industry experience, Gravalos was named to his position at Pirelli Neumaticos in 2013, after six years with Pirelli Tire North America Inc. Before 2007 he had a 33-year career with Goodyear.
The CNIH has been in existence 73 years representing the interests of Mexican producers of tires and industrial rubber goods.
