A weekly look at new products, innovations
GAF Materials Corp. rolled out WeatherCote Elastomeric Coating, a water-based acrylic roof coating that provides a durable, protective weathering layer for low-slope roofs.
WeatherCote Elastomeric Coating is highly reflective, GAF said, directing heat and ultraviolet away from the building. With a high 88 percent initial reflectivity, it reduces wear and tear on the membrane below as well as lowers the temperature inside the building, saving energy costs during summer months.
The product adheres to a variety of substrates and can be applied by spray, roller or brush, the firm said. It is water-based, has low VOC and is Energy Star rated in the U.S.
GAF added that it's a cost effective choice, delivering a quality coating at a fraction of the cost of other liquid-applied roofing products and includes a seven-year material warranty.

Glenro Inc. introduced Glenro SplicePerfect GACC Vertical Accumulator, a festoon style vertical accumulator for continuous process lines.
The Glenro accumulator model allows for core changes and product splicing while enabling the process line to continue at a constant velocity, Glenco said. The SplicePerfect can accumulate material at high speeds even when the down line process has been stopped—enabling the upstream process to continue uninterrupted. Once the down line process resumes, Glenro said the SplicePerfect system will feed out at speeds in excess of the process line speed allowing for continuous operation with no pause during core changes and splicing operations.
By permitting continuous process flow and by eliminating the loss of product due to line stops, the Glenro SplicePerfect accumulator can lower production costs while significantly improving productivity.
The Glenro Model SplicePerfect GACC Vertical Accumulator is custom designed to precisely meet the application requirements of a wide variety of continuous web processes and can be integrated into existing process lines. Both Glenro Center Unwind and Rewind systems as well as the Glenro Cantilevered systems are compatible.

Elastocon TPE Technologies Inc. released a newly-formulated black 48 Shore A thermoplastic elastomer that gives molded products rubber-like properties and a good surface finish for consumer goods and industrial applications requiring U.V. stability—the new 8150 Grade.
This latest addition to the Elastocon 8000 Series of general purpose TPEs can be formulated to mold on conventional thermoplastic molding equipment for injection molding, extrusion or blow molding. Elastocon said like other Elastocon TPEs, this new grade does not require drying. It can be overmolded onto polypropylene and passed FMVSS302 specifications for flammability.
Available as ready to use pellets in 1,000-pound quantities, Elastocon said this newly formulated TPE is compliant with California's Proposition 65 and the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive. The product can be recycled and contains no phthalates or latex.
Elastocon also offers a 2800 Series of performance TPEs, the SMR Series of TPOs, the STK Series for overmolding, and alloys, all of which can be injection molded, extruded, blow molded or compounded.
