CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio—Polymerics Inc. continues to upgrade its facilities.
The Ohio-based custom mixer said it has added new, higher horsepower motors, a more accurate and efficient oil-injection system and heating for hard-process liquids at its chemical blending facility in Kent, Ohio.
The 36,000-sq.-ft. plant in Kent produces a wide variety of products, according to the company, including chemical blends, cure packages for high-end polymer mixing, single item chemical pre-weighs and oil-bound dispersions.
Among other improvements at the facility are a heavier, safer compounding table; upgraded heaters and scale controllers; a 55-gallon drum hotbox for better oil processing and improving cycle times; and a scale for the forklift truck to check incoming raw materials.
The company is putting the finishing touches on a $1.2 million investment to improve its two Ohio facilities.
Upgrades at Polymerics' other plant, a 56,000-sq.-ft. Cuyahoga Falls facility, include a newly rebuilt No. 9 drop door mixer on the black mixing line; improved, environmentally friendly lighting; a new dust collector; a research and development lab to improve processes, increase capabilities and streamline the operation; a new office computer system to help organize and track R&D projects; an upgraded computer control processing system for improved traceability; and new lab testing software along with a new lab mixer that has increased development capabilities.
