Editor's Note: Each week, Rubber & Plastics News will take a look at some of the rubber industry's new products and innovations on www.rubbernews.com. Does your company have a new product or new innovation? To be considered for inclusion in this recurring feature, email [email protected]

Oxea GmbH has expanded its phthalate-free plasticizer portfolio with the introduction of Oxsoft L9TM, a linear trinonyltrimellitate.

Oxsoft L9TM is ideally suited for special applications where products must meet the most rigid demands, Oxea said, such as the manufacture of resilient and durable high temperature automotive cables that comply with the most severe requirements in this industry. Oxsoft L9TM directly replaces conventional C8/C10 trimellitates and is available in industrial quantities.

Oxsoft L9TM shows to high temperatures, cold temperature flexibility, Oxea said, and great resistance to migration while having good plasticizing efficiency and processability. Other application areas include non-fogging automotive interior; special sheets; profiles and gaskets; and base stock for lubricating oils. More information about the Oxsoft range of phthalate-free plasticizers is available at www.phthalate-free-plasticizers.com

Oxea is owned by Oman Oil Company S.A.O.C. For more information about Oxea, go to www.oxea-chemicals.com.

Carlstar Group L.L.C.'s Carlisle Gold Ribbon Cog-Belts are now made of ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), a synthetic rubber that is durable, oil and heat resistant, static conductive and resistant to hardening and glazing, according to the company.

Carlstar said EPDM Gold Ribbon Cog-Belts feature a 60 percent broader operating temperature range (-50°F to +250°F). Gold Ribbon is smoother running, and the belt side walls reduce vibration for extended component life, Carlstar claimed. The new cog profile reduces bending stress for increased performance on small diameter pulleys, the company said.

Energy efficient Gold Ribbon Cog-Belts are made in the U.S. and are matched to ChekMate tolerances and backed by Carlisle's Guarantee.

Durex's mica foil high temperature heater technology for foodservice equipment, material bonding and laminating applications.

Durex Industries has introduced a mica foil high temperature heater technology, developed for foodservice equipment, material bonding and laminating applications where temperature profile and thermal response are critical to the manufacturing process.

Durex said this heater technology has uniform heat with fast response for applications up to 1,112°F (600°C) capability. It is a distributed wattage etch foil heater element bonded between high temperature mica sheath material. The heaters can be designed with custom shapes that match the working surface of the application, the company said. Heaters must be clamped.
