HOUSTON—GHX Industrial, a subsidiary of the United Distribution Group, has purchased the assets and operations of Pelham, Ala.-based Valley of Birmingham. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Valley of Birmingham, known as VOB, was purchased in 1983 by Jerald Johns and Richard Anderson, and it operates a 10,600-sq.-ft. facility in Pelham. It distributes gaskets and fluid sealing products from such manufacturers as Garlock and Thermoseal, according to GHX. It also provides a range of maintenance, repair and operations products, along with 24/7 service throughout the region it service.
Johns will stay on with GHX and serve as branch manager of the Pelham location.
“Their relationships and service record in the Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia region, specifically in the power generation and OEM sectors, continues to strengthen the GHX portfolio and will provide additional synergy throughout the Northern Alabama territory when coupled with our current Decatur, Ala., branch,” GHX Industrial President Richard Harrison said in a news release.
