Silicone Solutions has launched SS-777, a flexible grout. SS-777 can be used in expansion joints, vibrating or moving surfaces, Silicone Solutions said, like subways or rail stations, plastic tubs or shower bases. It also compensates for thermal gradients in hot tubs, steam rooms and spas. It bonds to all construction surfaces including wood and concrete, the company said.

Additionally, the company claimed it doesn't crack, chip or break while offering great adhesion.

Wacker Chemie A.G. has unveiled a high-tack silicone adhesive gel developed expressly for medical applications. Silpuran 2117 is well-suited for skin-friendly adhesive applications, such as those found in advanced wound care, Wacker said. Dressings using the high purity silicone adhesive gel remain reliable and durable, Wacker said, yet stay soft and flexible, thus enabling atraumatic dressing changes.

Wacker developed and formulated Silpuran 2117 with advantageous properties, such as enhanced tack in direct skin applications and where hypo-allergenic skin adhesion is a crucial requirement. Dressings made using this soft silicone gel are breathable, Wacker added, due to high vapor permeability of the silicone. The product protects the wound site from bacteria, is waterproof and helps promote an optimized healing environment, the company claimed.

The properties of Silpuran 2117 silicone adhesive gel enable easy removal without causing damage or pain to the surrounding skin area, Wacker said, and its excellent tack makes the Silpuran 2117 a great choice for direct skin adhesive wound care and prosthetic medical device applications, while exhibiting the benefits associated with typical silicone properties.

It is chemically inert, heat-resistant and remains flexible at temperature extremes ranging from -50 to +200 °C, Wacker said, and is free from organic plasticizers and stabilizers. This two-part A/B component adhesive has passed selected tests for bio-compatibility according to ISO 10993 and U.S. Pharmacopeia Class VI, Wacker said.

Dow Corning Corp. has released its Dow Corning TC-3040 thermally conductive gel, a next-generation thermal interface material (TIM-1). Developed through the help of IBM, Dow Corning said this material offers more effective and reliable thermal management, reduced stress and excellent under-die coverage for demanding flip chip applications.

TIM-1 solutions are a class of high-purity, thermal interface materials that are applied between the chip surface and a heat spreader to help dissipate damaging heat to the exterior of a semiconductor package. However, Dow Corning said as applications from data centers to consumer devices to automotive electronics demand higher functioning integrated semiconductor devices with increasing processing power, the temperatures within chip packages are increasing rapidly and testing the limits of conventional TIM-1 solutions.

Dow Corning said its TC-3040 thermally conductive gel has nearly two times the thermal performance of other industry standard TIMs, the company said, as well as high thermal conductivity targeting 4W/mK with robust reliability. As a result, it offers chip-makers broader design options for high-performing yet more reliable ICs with improved thermal management, the company claimed.
