CARY, N.C.—Lord Corp. has appointed James F. Amos as the chairman of the firm's board of directors.
Amos, a retired general who served as the 35th commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, joined Lord's board of directors in December 2014. The firm said he was selected as chairman for his extraordinary leadership skills and understanding of the complex issues shaping the company's global operating environment.
Amos succeeds Rick McNeel, who served as chairman since 2011 and as president and CEO from 2002-12. The firm said it has doubled in size and expanded operations globally during McNeel's tenure.
Lord said McNeel will remain on the board.
“As a former commandant of the Marine Corps and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Amos assessed a constantly shifting global environment,” McNeel said in a statement. “He is eminently qualified to help us navigate these opportunities, and we are fortunate to have his leadership on the board.
