TORONTO—The Sunshine Foundation of Canada has designated June 1-6 for its “#TireTakeBack” event.
During the #TireTakeBack event, Ontario residents can take their old tires to their local participating tire collectors. All collection allowances on passenger, light truck or agriculture tires go to the Sunshine Foundation, a charity specializing in granting the wishes of children with severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses.
In 2014, more than 46,000 tires were collected during #TireTakeBack, raising more than $90,000, the Sunshine Foundation said. The money was used for such things as providing children with adaptive mobility devices, sending them on trips of a lifetime or arranging meetings with their idols, the foundation said.
The Sunshine Foundation operates #TireTakeBack in partnership with Ontario Tire Stewardship, the Ontario Automotive Recyclers Association and the Ontario Federation of Agriculture. The list of drop-off location for tires during the event may be found here.
