EXTON, Pa.—Eric M. Green has been named CEO at West Pharmaceutical Services Inc., replacing Donald E. Morel Jr., the current chairman and CEO of the company.
Morel will continue to serve as chairman after Green becomes CEO until July 1, when he plans to formally retire.
Green, the former executive vice president of Sigma-Aldrich Corp. and president of the firm's Research Market business since 2013, will assume his new post at West on April 24.
In his role at Sigma-Aldrich, he served as a corporate officer and a member of the senior executive team, with responsibility for managing a $1.4 billion business unit, the largest within the company.
“Eric Green brings a wealth of leadership experience from his time with Sigma-Aldrich, a company which serves West's customer-centric approach to working with the pharmaceutical industry,” Morel said. “Eric stood out among a very strong candidate list that was considered.
“We were particularly impressed with his track record of growing revenue and profit for the business units he has led; the diversity of his experience across different business segments, particularly in emerging markets; and his passion for leading people—all of which have prepared him well to lead West.”
Morel said he expects to be fully engaged in helping Green acclimate to his new position at the Exton-headquartered manufacturer of packaging components and delivery systems for injectable drugs and health care products.
