TASHKENT, Uzbekistan—China's Poly Technologies and the Uzbek government have signed an agreement for the construction of a rubber products plant in the country, according to China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM).
The president of Uzbekistan has signed the agreement that paves the way for the project involving Uzkimyosanoat, one of the country's largest chemical firms, and Poly Technologies, part of China's state-owned China Poly Group Corp.
The $184 million project was awarded on a turnkey basis by Poly Technologies, MOFCOM said.
The plant will have annual capacity of about 1 million square feet of conveyor belt, 200,000 agriculture tires and 300,000 automobile tires when completed.
Uzkimyosanoat has reached an agreement with General Motors Co. on using the tires manufactured in the plant—as original equipment—in GM's vehicles.
