GREENVILLE, S.C.—Michelin North America Inc. has launched the Michelin BibLoad Hard Surface radial tire for backhoes.
The BibLoad Hard Surface is a hard surface version of the Michelin XMCL all-terrain backhoe radial tire made for loose soil applications and targeted for compact loaders and telescopic equipment, Michelin said.
The new tread design is non-directional and optimized to provide longer tread life when used on hard surfaces. Michelin said this is the first tire with diamond-shaped tread blocks made up of beveled facets. The tire features six different grip angles with progressive facets that, according to the tire maker, make the block more rigid regardless of the tread depth. The new tread design also includes sipes that increase the amount of biting edges on the tire and facilitate the evacuation of mud. These sipes also increase traction in snow removal applications, Michelin said.
The tire will be available initially in two sizes in January—400/70R20 and 460/70R24—with six additional sizes available later in the year.
