ST. LOUIS—MarChem Polyurethane Systems has come out with a new running track product line that expands the company's base within the surfacing sector.
Called Tru-Motion SS, the new line has received International Association of Athletic Federation certification and represents an integrated approach to servicing virtually all athletic and recreational surfacing market requirements, a company spokesman said.
He said products within the line are made of a combination of polyurethanes, recycled rubber and custom colored rubber.
MarChem, a business unit within the Accella Performance Materials Inc. group of businesses, said the Tru-Motion SS line provides a variety of solutions for indoor multi-purpose surfaces, outdoor running tracks and playground safety surfaces.
The new line meets the strict technical requirements, including those handed down by the IAAF, for tracks used at the highest levels of competitive activity on an international and collegiate level, according to the company.
Accella's businesses provide perfectly matched athletic surfacing components: colorized rubber materials, rubber underlayment and polyurethane chemistries for the Tru-Motion SS line that meet the specific application needs for each installation, said Sandy Wool, vice president of polyurethane systems at MarChem.
The Accella operations are industry leaders in polyurethane track binders and coatings, field house flooring, safety surfacing and rubber compounding, according to Wool. “We understand the nuances of multi-layer systems.”
Accella CEO Andy Harris noted that the company is the only manufacturer in North America that is fully integrated “to provide complete systems using specialty formulated polyurethanes, recycled rubber and custom colored rubber products for a wide variety of applications in construction and sports surfaces.”
MarChem produces specialty formulated and customized polyurethane materials for athletic surfacing, carpet backing and industrial applications, the spokesman said. It then manufactures the products for the new line.
“We provide not only custom formulations but technical support to installers and owners to ensure the system installation meets site specifications and maintains its lasting beauty and performance,” Wool said.
Accella, owned by Arsenal Capital Partners, was founded in 1973 in St. Louis. It changed its name to Accella from Dash Multi-Corp. in May 2014. The company manufactures custom formulated polyurethane and recycled rubber products.
Its urethane business focuses on tire fill, foams, adhesives, sealants and elastomers. The recycled rubber goods operation produces recycled tire crumb, custom colored EPDM granules, equine matting, and athletic flooring, playground surfacing and custom molded products.
