Xerium Technologies Inc. has unveiled Genesis XTi and Genesis APi as the new generation of Genesis calender roll cover technology.

These Genesis covers are engineered specifically to provide improved wear resistance and fracture toughness in demanding calender applications requiring the highest gloss, Xerium said. Due to its unique design, this cover delivers these improved factors while continuing to deliver the industry-leading high ductility, the firm said.

Genesis XTi and Genesis APi roll cover technologies were developed to address customers' requests for increased life and improved roll durability, Xerium added.

The Adhesive and Sealant Council has launched its second in a series of videos designed to promote and highlight ways adhesives and sealants are being used actively in the marketplace or being considered for a new application.

ASC said the video series is part of the TV portion of www.adhesives.org and www.sealants.org and is focused on innovation, while being designed to foster the use of adhesives and sealants by design engineers who are looking to innovate with advanced materials.

The next video in ASC's Innovation Video series is entitled Adhesives Drive Value for Automakers. It highlights ways adhesives are used to lightweight cars, supporting automotive companies' efforts to meet federal miles per gallon mandates and lowering emissions.

ASC said it anticipates developing three to four videos as part of a pilot program in 2015 to test whether this type of digital strategy engages users of www.adhesives.org. The effort is part of the Council's Long Range Plan, which emphasizes the council expanding its communications services.

    Steelastic's Assurance Belt Inspection System.

Steelastic Co. L.L.C. has released its Assurance Series of Inspection Systems, designed to identify and report defects in real-time during the production of radial belt, body ply and cap strip materials to guarantee defective product never makes it to the tire building process.

Steelastic said the system will identify key defects such as splice imperfections, non-uniform edges, widths, gauges and other major defects.

The Assurance Series uses the latest in 3-D vision technology to achieve 100-percent product inspection and offers a fully automated method to guarantee quality control. Steelastic said the system can be used with new or existing Steelastic belt, body ply and cap strip systems and can be adapted easily to operate with any make of machinery.

Steelastic will showcase the new vision inspection system in stand 2140 at the TireTech 2015 Expo in Cologne, Germany, Feb. 10-12.
