DRESDEN, Germany—DSM Dyneema has won three ITMA Future Materials awards based on its Dyneema Force Multiplier Technology platform.
Future Materials honored DSM Dyneema with awards for Best Innovation—Industrial Textiles; Most Innovative Large Company; and Launch of the Year. The awards were presented recently during the inaugural ceremony held in Dresden.
DSM Dyneema manufactures ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fiber, branded as Dyneema, as well as life protection materials and high-performance fibers. Dyneema said its Force Multiplier Technology platform, launched in 2013, has been used in life protection and industrial applications, including soft body armor, hard materials for helmets, vest inserts and vehicle protection.
Publishers of Future Materials magazine, World Textile Information Network, launched the Future Materials Awards to reward innovation in the technical textiles market.
“These diverse awards underscore the importance of ongoing innovation and an entrepreneurial attitude, even within a large company like DSM Dyneema,” said Shitij Chabba, global segment director life protection, who attended the ceremony. “We look forward to fostering future breakthroughs that can advance the technical textiles industry.”
Dyneema is a component in ropes, cables and nets in the fishing, shipping and offshore industries, as well as in safety gloves for the metalworking industry and in yarns for applications in sporting goods and the medical sector. It also is used in bullet resistant armor and clothing for police and military personnel.
