BRUSSELS—Mercedes-Benz A.G. has selected versions of Bridgestone Corp.'s Dueler H/P Sport and Turanza T001 for original equipment fitment on its GLA compact SUV and C-Class sedan, respectively.
Mercedes is producing two SKUs of the Dueler H/P—215/60 R17 96V (standard summer), 235/50 R18 97H (extended all season)—as standard fitments, and one size, the 235/45 R19 95V (extended summer), as an optional fitment.
The 18-inch will be the standard size for GLAs exported to the U.S., Bridgestone said.
The four-door, five-passenger GLA is Mercedes' entry in the fast-growing compact SUV segment, featuring a 106.3-inch wheelbase and 179-inch overall length. It's powered by a turbocharged 2-liter gasoline engine and features the car maker's 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
For the C-Class, Mercedes has approved six Bridgestone Turanza SKUs— 205/60R16 LM32 92H; 225/50R17 LM32 94H; 225/50R17 LM32 94H EXT; 225/50R17 T001 94W EXT; and an optional sportier fitment with separate front and rear sizes: 225/45R18 S001 95Y EXT and 245/40R18 S001 97Y EXT.
The 17-inch sizes are part of the C-Class' “Avantgarde” and “Exclusive” lines. The EXT means extended-use or run-flat.
In addition, Mercedes has approved Bridgestone's Blizzak LM-32 winter tire as part of the factory fitment package, Bridgestone said, with seven sizes developed specifically for the C-Class.
