CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa—Apache Inc. is considering expanding its Cedar Rapids headquarters and plant another 90,000 square feet, which it said will preserve nearly 30 jobs and add another 15 to its work force.
Cost of the addition was estimated at about $7.5 million.
Before it makes a decision, Apache is waiting on a determination from Cedar Rapids city council on the firm's application for a tax increment financing package, which in turn will need the authorization of the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
If state and local financial assistance is approved, construction on the plant addition is slated to begin in April.
The employee-owned seal maker and belt distributor currently has a work force of 139 at the Cedar Rapids plant. It employs 315 at its six locations in the U.S.
