GEISMAR, La.—Lion Copolymer Holdings L.L.C. has completed its acquisition of Ashland Inc.'s SBR business in Port Neches, Texas.
The firm did not disclose financial details of the transaction.
Lion Copolymer closed its SBR plant in Baton Rouge, La., last December. The firm sold the operation earlier this year to a group of investors and former managers of the operation, who have named the new business East West Copolymer & Rubber L.L.C.
“We are excited to be back in the SBR business,” Lion Copolymer President Jesse Zeringue said in a statement. “We believe that the facility in Port Neches is a tremendous upgrade from our former SBR plant and will allow us the ability to enhance our product portfolio with high quality products that meet customer needs both now and in the future.”
Zeringue said the addition of Ashland's hot emulsion SBR product line fits nicely with the firm's specialty low molecular weight EPDM products sold in similar market segments.
“The combined businesses serve to further strengthen Lion as would a class elastomer company,” the president said.
