HANOVER, Germany—ContiTech Grand Ocean Fluid (Changchun) Co. Ltd. has opened a plant in Hangzhou to help handle a contract it has with Ford Motor Co.
The facility will produce under floor air conditioning hose lines for the car maker beginning in March 2015.
Cost of the plant was not disclosed but ContiTech said about $1.6 million has been invested in machinery for the project, which includes the company's factories in Changchun and Hangzhou.
Up to 40 jobs are being created at the 21,528-sq. ft. site, with space available for further expansion, the company said.
The factory in Hangzhou is the company's fourth fluid technology production site in China. Combined, the plants employ more than 1,000.
“We are underscoring our commitment to supporting our customers in their successful development in China,” according to Matthias Schonberg, head of the ContiTech Fluid Technology business.
