STOCKHOLM—Trelleborg's offshore unit will supply a range of cable protection products for phase two of the major offshore windfarm Fukushima Forward project in Japan.
The Swedish company said it is to provide distributed buoyancy modules, bend stiffeners with dynamic bend stiffener connectors, cable protection and bend restrictors.
The award by Furukawa Electric on the Japanese government-backed scheme follows Trelleborg's delivery of equipment for phase one of the project.
The products for phase two of the energy project are due to be installed quarter three of this year. Once complete, the project will be the world's largest floating windfarm.
Subsea electrical power cables are used in these facilities to interconnect floating structures on offshore windfarms and also run between the substation and the shore.
Trelleborg's DBM's are designed to secure, guide and protect these power cables from excessive movement and bending that could cause fatigue damage.
