ROVERETO, Italy—Marangoni Group has acquired Recamax Reifen GmbH, a Bergkamen, Germany-based earthmover tire retreading specialist, in a move to strengthen its presence in Germany.

    Financial terms were not disclosed.

Marangoni and Recamix have been business partners for more than 25 years, Marangoni said.

Luca Mai, earthmoving sales director for Marangoni, said this deal confirms Marangoni's strategic focus on premium retreading of earthmoving tires in the main European markets.

“One of our primary objectives is to clearly demonstrate to customers the potential for savings offered by our products in the highly specialist segment of earthmoving and industrial retreads,” he said, “and indeed the presence of Recamax as part of our group will allow us to pursue this objective in a more incisive, competent and efficient way.”

Recamix will complement Marangoni's existing OTR distribution operations in Germany, under the umbrella of Wenzel Industrie of Lilienthal, Germany.

“Recamax represents an expert and efficient partner for our group,” said Christoph Frost, managing director of Wenzel Industrie, a part of Marangoni since 2005. “The two companies complement each other, thanks to their expertise in different fields. In this way, our service and performance in the sector of earthmoving tire premium retreading will improve even further, with the objective of increasing customer satisfaction every day more.”

Heike Nowak, who will continue to direct Recamax Reifen as managing director, called the acquisition by Marangoni Group a “logical and strategic” move.

“I have known Marangoni for more than 25 years, and our long-term partnership, based on mutual trust, has made this decision even easier,” she said. “Together with Marangoni and Wenzel, we will strengthen our market position, and I am confident that with this decision we have laid the foundations for further success.”

Recamix is capable of retreading OTR tires up to size 27.00R49, according to information on its website. http://www.recamax.de/index.html

Recamix Reifen has been in operation since 1991, founded by Nowak and Piet Kerkhof with the support of Recamax Banden B.V. of Holland. Recamix was sold to Germany's Rösler Group in 2004, but Heike Nowak and Tjibbe Kerkhof, with Piet Kerkhof, bought the company back and re-established it.

Marangoni also retreads earthmover tires at its headquarters plant in Rovereto, where it can handle tires up to 33-inch rim diameter.
