PITTSBURGH—Lewis-Goetz & Co. Inc. has acquired Advanced Sealing Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of fluid sealing products to refining, chemical processing, power generation and wastewater treatment facilities.
Lewis-Goetz said Advanced Sealing provides a broad product mix including metallic and non-metallic flange gaskets, valve packings, metallic and elastomeric hoses, stud bolts, hex nuts, steam traps and heat exchanger gaskets.
Advanced Sealing focuses on fugitive emission products that meet or exceed today's leak detection and repair sealing standards. The bulk of its business is its metallic heat exchanger gaskets for the refining industry, but the firm also fabricates industrial hoses and installs expansion joints.
It consists of 74 employees with manufacturing facilities in Cerritos, Calif., and Pascagoula, Miss.
“Advanced Sealing will help deepen Lewis-Goetz's experience, our knowledge and product offering, and to help reduce fugitive emissions in the refining and petrochemical industries,” said Katie Oswald, marketing manager at Lewis-Goetz. “These are key focus industries for our company, and the acquisition will help further solidify our commitment to our customers.”
Lewis-Goetz already has a presence in the same markets as Advanced Sealing. However Oswald said Advanced will bring more in-depth experience and a broader product offering. She highlighted designs and products such as Advanced's Alky-One gasket used in HF Alkylation service, as well as the fact that Advanced Sealing's manufacturing locations bring Lewis-Goetz into new geographic markets.
“We've already had a focus on the refining industry so the acquisition brings a little more depth and some products we didn't have before that we can bring to the industry now,” said Dave Antoline, product manager for North America at Lewis-Goetz.
Lewis-Goetz is part of the Eriks Group of companies and is a worldwide industrial distributor with annual sales exceeding $800 million.
Eriks Group consists of more than 60 companies with 450 branches in 27 countries, generating net sales of $2.3 billion in 2013. It employs 7,500 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of SHV Holdings N.V., which reported net sales of $25.6 billion in 2012.
