Today the world is demanding ‘Green' machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, automobiles with ever increasing efficiencies so how do rubber products specially the tyre & automobile rubber components affects this picture and where can this ‘Green' demand lead the tyre, auto rubber components? The global automobile and tyre industry are preparing themselves to address the above questions through systematic implementation of Green Technology in their respective industry. The Green Technology and Environmental Sustainability in Tyre Industry will be addressed through: 1) A new “Ecosystem” of collaborative partnership among Regulatory innovation frontier (Government), Business innovation frontier (cross industry value chain) and Technical innovation frontier (Auto industry). 2) Design for Environment (DFE) : New concept development, selection of low impact materials, reduction of material, optimisation of production techniques, efficient distribution system, reduction of environmental impact in the user stage, optimisation of initial life time, optimisation of end of life system. 3) Cleaner production through continuous application integrated preventive environmental strategy applied to process, product & services to increase overall efficiency, reduce risks to human and the environment. 4) Resource optimisation through 4R Strategy (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle & Renewable) material and energy balances including material and energy balance.
