It is important to understand the evolution of internal batch mixer construction to better grasp concepts of future of mixer design. Current and future advanced compound developments dictate that mixers act as both internal mixing vessels as well as reactors. Silica compounding and related salinization have forced design changes to mixers as we have known them. Temperature control, true temperature control, of the mixing chamber and its components has advanced greatly. New mixer design must facilitate these and other related capabilities to more closely control the process. This presentation will outline some of the more vital design changes in mixers and the compounds which they mix primarily in internal batch mixers however will also include some content related to continuous mixing. Presented by Bob McNabb, Sales Manager, North America, HF Mixing Group.
