NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Reports that Bridgestone Americas Inc. is planning to move soon from its current Nashville headquarters to a downtown space are false, the company said in a statement.
Newspaper stories late last week quoted anonymous sources as saying Bridgestone Americas was looking for a downtown site to build a 400,000 sq.-ft. office building, possibly at or near the current site of the abandoned Nashville Convention Center.
The company, however, said it is committed to the lease on its current headquarters building near Nashville International Airport. That lease runs until 2017, Bridgestone said.
“Our company occupies roughly 90 percent of the 280,000 square feet (of the current headquarters building), and we continue to invest in our current location to provide the best environment for around 1,000 Nashville-based teammates,” Bridgestone said.
“Potential changes, if any, we might consider would be communicated first to our teammates and would be implemented several years down the road,” the company said.
