    Yokohama Tire Corp.'s Geolandar light truck/SUV tire line—the H/T G056—goes on sale Sept. 1 in the U.S.

    FULLERTON, Calif.—The latest iteration of Yokohama Tire Corp.'s Geolandar light truck/SUV tire line—the H/T G056—went on sale Sept. 1 in the U.S. in 38 P- and LT-metric sizes in 15- to -20-inch rim diameters and extended treadwear warranties.

    The H/T G056 replaces the HT-S in the Geolandar lineup. Yokohama launched the HT-S in 2002 as the highway-service version of the Geolandar line. It will be launched in Canada in early 2015, Yokohama said.

    Yokohama said the use of orange-oil compounding technology, combined with a reconfigured tread design, allows it to offer limited treadwear warranties of 70,000 miles and 50,00 miles on P-metric and LT-metric sizes, respectively.

    “Thanks to its completely new design, which includes Yokohama's own orange oil compound technology, the Geolandar H/T G056 is made to stay on the road thousands of miles longer and provide exceptional all-weather handling,” said Andrew Briggs, Yokohama director, marketing and product planning. “It outlasts conventional highway terrain tires without sacrificing its all-season capabilities.”

    Highlights of the H/T G056 include:

    • Triple 3D sipes that help stabilize tread blocks to minimize uneven wear and provide biting edges for enhanced traction throughout the life of the tire;

    • Multi-angle grooves and zigzag circumferential grooves that work in tandem to provide improved handling in wet and wintry conditions;

    • An optimized contact patch that contributes to better mileage by equalizing pressure distribution where the tread contacts the road for long, even wear; and

    • Adaptive shoulder blocks form a continuous outer rib that reduces noise throughout the life of the tire.
